Wild in the Jungle! #MySexySaturday #EroticRomance

Welcome to the 145th week of My Sexy Saturday!
This week’s theme: Sexy In Time

Readers – please visit our new Author Central where we'll share more from our authors besides Saturday's snippets. We'd love to have every one of you there as we're starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

Here's a sneak peak of my upcoming story:

A shipwrecked woman.
An uncharted island.

Her mind spun with the possibility he might be a headhunter, but his features appeared European under all that black facial hair.

Before, when he’d lifted her out of the sand, she’d caught a fleeting glimpse of an irregular-shaped animal hide tied loosely around his hips. She wondered how long he’d lived alone since he seemed incapable of communication.

Then again, though they may not speak the same language, she knew the look that told her to shut-up when she saw it.

His thick fingers gripped the roughened bark and his feet found crevices for leverage. As if he were military trained in Special Forces, he quickly climbed the tree, her weight making little difference to the wild jungle man.

Twila's Tempest - It's the Perfect Storm of #Romance! #RomanticSuspense

Were you a fan of the movie
A Perfect Storm?

Then I have a nail-biter romance for you!
(hint: It's not even out and already ON SALE!)

I had the lucky opportunity to preview this book
and give Natasza Waters
FIVE STARS

Blurb:

Drake Addison, retired Marine, understands the dangers of the sea, but there’s a storm coming, and she’s all of five foot three.

A dark horse among the Treasure Coast’s elite, Drake’s passion and wealth tempt him. His first love is building yachts. Meeting Twila, he sees she has a passion as well—caring for the elderly, including his parents, but she’s trapped.

Like unearthing a gold doubloon, with one kiss from Twila, he craves a thousand. He makes an excuse to remain in Port St. Lucie and teach Twila about the sea. His mistake: misjudging the heart of one woman, the soul of another, and the ferocity of the one headed their way.
Sometimes, a little knowledge is dangerous, but for Twila—it’s deadly.

A standalone romantic adventure.

"Riveting and wholly engrossing, it takes a lot to stand out in this ever popular genre, but author Natasza Waters knows exactly how to deliver an outstanding read. Chasing the Dead #cowboy #paranormal #RomanticIdea

I'm pleased to have the very busy Keta Diablo stop by today and share her summer idea!

Take it away, Keta:

When summer comes to the Midwest, we think lakes!

One way I love to pass a sunny afternoon is to pack a picnic lunch and head for the water on a Pontoon boat. What could be more romantic than spending a lazy day cruising the lake? The crappies are biting, the sun’s sharing its awesome warmth and the cooler is filled with our favorite beverages.
This is also a great time to catch up on my reading (a romance novel, of course). As the sun sets, we head on over to one of the many restaurants on the lake and enjoy a delicious meal together.
Now this is my idea of Romance!
Happy sailing and happy reading! ~ Keta ~

Book: Chasing the Dead
Genre: Paranormal Western Romance
Publisher: Keta Diablo

Tagline: A sinister ghost is out for revenge. Madrid, Deacon and Sacheen must stay one step ahead of the ghoul and reach the hacienda.

Blurb:

In 1884 New Mexico, Madrid Arrende finds herself kidnapped by the Apache. Determined to rescue her, her wealthy father realizes there is only one man capable of bringing her back alive...Deacon Bannister. Deacon doesn't give one whit about the large sum of money Don Erasmos Arrende has offered him to find his daughter. He  only cares about bringing the woman he left at the altar a year ago home.
A ghost is terrorizing the Apache village and the young maiden, Sacheen, has been banished by her People for unleashing Uday's wrath. Now, Deacon, Madrid and Sacheen must flee for their lives across the rugged New Mexico landscape with the evil spirit in hot pursuit.
Will they make it back alive to Madrid's father's hacienda or will Deacon lose Madrid forever?

Setup and Excerpt: Madrid and Sacheen confront the ghost

Sacheen ignited Maddie's torch and both women scrambled over the half-wall to light the packets of sage. The moon glinted off a shadowy form sweeping past a line of trees to Maddie's right. Dios, the ghost! With gooseflesh rising on her arms, she called out to Sacheen, "Hurry! Light your bundles and go inside with Deacon."
A circle of fire from a dozen piles of sage lit up the sky around the shelter. The wind moaned and wailed, sounding like the sorrowful lament of Scottish bagpipes. What other magic and manipulations had the dead spirit learned in the underworld since Maddie last saw him?
With a look of startled horror, Sacheen shouldered her. "Do you see him?"
"I thought I told you to go inside. We must not show him fear."
"Do you see him!?"
Tendrils of darkness slipped in as the wraith advanced. Maddie shivered when his visage manifested in her line of vision. More terrifying than any specter she'd ever seen, a haze of gray mist swirled around his translucent form. A quiver hung from his shoulder stocked with stone-headed arrows—a sign he'd taken the form of a native from ancient history. Steeped in blood, his clothing hung in tatters around his massive frame—a vest made of animal hides, a breechcloth and fringed leggings. Maddie's gaze traveled to his painted, pock-marked face. Her insides quivered and ropes of tension knotted every cord and fiber of her body.
Bleary, unearthly eyes turned to Sacheen when the spirit raised a hand with claw-like fingers and pointed at her chest. The wind, much like the sound of women wailing, keened into the deafening silence. Fire exploded from the ghost's eyes—flames the fires of Hell couldn't compete with.
"Yes." Maddie fought to keep her voice calm and even. "I see him. His hunger for you permeates the air."
Sacheen shouted above the roar and chaos. "You are not welcome here! Hear my words, Uday, you are tats-an. You are dead!”
Maddie peered at the girl through the dim light. Uday? She spoke his name?
"It is I, Sacheen, and I do not fear you chidn. Hear my power:
Hinamaya hinamaya hinamay Chee Chi Yo

Hinamay chee chi yo hinna may chee chi yo

Hinna hinna hey ya hinna hinna hey yo

A cry of anguish and rage melded, knifed through the dank, still air. The maiden couldn't see him but stood tall before her imaginary tormentor, her aura shimmering like molten glass. "You are like the dust-storm, nothing but a shiver in the air. Do you hear me? I did not want you in life and will not accept you in death. You are yah-ik-tee, no longer with us!"

Fooling Around with Cinderella by Stacy Juba #RomanticIdea #TwistedFairytale

Today I welcome Stacy Juba with her summertime #Romantic Idea!

Go to a theme park and try these romantic ideas:

1.     Snuggle up on slow rides such as the train.

2.     Kiss at the top of the Ferris Wheel at night.

3.     Share a box of popcorn during a show.

4.     Get to a show early and relax in the back of the air-conditioned theater.

5.     Kiss for the ride pictures.

6.     Enjoy a picnic lunch.

7.     Go to the park’s nicest restaurant for dinner.

8.     Have your significant other play games to win you a prize.

9.     Hold hands while strolling through the park.

10.  Snuggle up during the fireworks.

Fooling Around With Cinderella

What happens when the glass slippers pinch Cinderella's toes?

When Jaine Andersen proposes a new marketing role to the local amusement park, general manager Dylan Callahan charms her into filling Cinderella’s glass slippers for the summer. Her reign transforms Jaine’s ordinary life into chaos that would bewilder a fairy godmother. Secretly dating her bad boy boss, running wedding errands for her ungrateful sisters, and defending herself from the park’s resident villain means Jaine needs lots more than a comfy pair of shoes to restore order in her kingdom.

First in the Storybook Valley series, a blend of sweet romance, chick lit, and fairy tale fun.

Excerpt:

Dylan scrutinized Jaine, arms folded across his royal blue shirt with the Storybook Valley logo stamped over the left in white block letters. “Do you wear contacts?”
“I have plenty of media contacts. Wait. Did you say wear contacts? You mean instead of these?” Jaine fingered the earpiece of her gold-rimmed glasses.
“Right. Contact lenses.”
She gave a nervous chuckle. “I scheduled a consultation in college, but was too squeamish to insert the lens. I was more comfortable in glasses.”
Was she really justifying her vision enhancement choices to her prospective new boss? Maybe he intended to discuss medical benefits. Or did he think she looked nerdy? What was the saying? Guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses? Not that she wanted him to make a pass even if he was hot.
“How blind are you without glasses?” Dylan persisted.
“You wouldn’t want to drive with me.”
“How about if you’re walking around a building? Are you in danger of hurting yourself?”
This interview had taken the Mad Hatter Freeway from Fairy Tale Land into Wonderland where nothing made a damn bit of sense. Did this guy have a glasses fetish, like those weirdoes with shoe fetishes?
“I should be okay. I take them off for special occasions.” In fact, Jaine’s older sister Bree, who was getting married in August, remarked just last week, “You are losing the glasses for my wedding pictures, right?”
What the hell. She’d be a good sport and hope Dylan would be so grateful to pick the brain of a real, flesh and blood, bespectacled person that he would appoint her marketing director. Jaine removed her glasses and the fine details of her surroundings fuzzed. She nodded toward the framed print hanging on a side wall, the picture a wash of symbols and colors. “I can tell that’s a park map, but the words and images smear together.”
And that was myopia in a nutshell. Jaine adjusted her glasses back into place so she could see his reaction. Dylan examined her with such intensity that a blush stained her cheeks. She patted her French braid, in case stray strands were straggling out.
“Here’s the situation,” Dylan said. “I took over the general manager position a few months ago. I’m evaluating possible changes and researching how other theme parks run. My grandfather and father have worked with a marketing firm for years to create our brochures, billboards, print, and radio ads.”
Jaine’s shoulders caved, imperceptible to him, but it felt as if her whole body was sinking.
No fairy tale job ending for her.

My Sexy Secret ~ @MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors #Saturday7 #MSS144

Welcome to the 144thweek of My Sexy Saturday.

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting new things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This week's excerpt comes from my sexy paranormal romance:

"Thank you for helping me." Attraction or not, Abelia didn't want to leave her handsome protector yet. He stood tall and straight, like a towering spruce. Under less stressful circumstances, she would have enjoyed getting to know him better. "I think it's time for me to leave."

"You no want to buy bonsai?" The vendor asked.

Although small, for temporary housing, the bonsai would work in a pinch.

Cars of all shapes and colors zoomed past on the street—nobody would notice. All she had to do was redirect the attention of the seller, and that of the devilishly good-looking male. She took in his set face. His clamped mouth and fixed blue eyes. If there'd only been more time for them.

Maybe another day.

Abelia took a long look, memorizing his human features, and did what she had to do. Forcing her eyes to open wide, she pointed a finger behind the plant seller. "Holy crap! Did you see that?"

The second they both looked away, Abelia touched the trunk of the miniature tree and shimmered herself inside.

No, their Mafioso appears to all have gone legit. In this story, Tess father claims to be an honest business man, but he’s only more careful when killing and muscling people. Truth is that Beneto longs for the old days in Chicago where the mafia is still going strong. (The Chicago Mafia remains alive and dangerous in real life. In fact, the Feds aren’t sure they’ll ever curtail them.)

Contemporary Suspense/Romance

Blurb

Megan Clarke had a good life until she wins the Mega Times Lottery and discovers the prize comes with a curse. Worse than the many money-hungry suitors, a serial killer has her in his sight. She changes her name and moves to Iowa with plans to buy their last major forest of white oaks and turn it into a State Park.

Unfortunately, the Lottery Curse doesn't stop at state lines and someone there wants her dead, as well. Good thing a disturbingly handsome law officer is just as determined to keep her alive.

Excerpt from A Fortune to Die For

“Iowa used to have an active mafia. And while it has been quiet for a time, the speed in which this guy showed up indicates there’s still someone calling shots from here. And we don’t think Drecker did this. We think it was Helen’s son.”

“Jeffrey is a mafia kingpin?”

Steve shook his head. “No, her eldest son, Benito. Jeffrey is her second son. What do you know about him?”

“Nothing. I just heard him yelling at Helen.”

“Did he see you?”

“I’m not sure. The family was in the main cabin when I carried a box of groceries into the kitchen, but Tess led them to believe I was there delivering the groceries.”

“So how did you come to know his name?”

She grimaced. “I’m ashamed to say I was eavesdropping behind the kitchen door. He didn’t sound like a very nice man, which must be why Helen has gone out of her way not to make Tess a target of their anger.”

Contemporary Suspense/Sweet Romance

June 1 Release

Blurb

Tess Campbell is a mafia princess who wants nothing to do with her dangerous family. She’d rather spend her life making Grams's forest the best state park in Iowa.

Only there are several serious barriers between them: Steel’s career cannot withstand another scandal and Tess’s father will kill anyone who gets in the way of his daughter marrying a Chicago mobster.

Excerpt for Unexpected Love

Sleep came easy, but Steel’s dreams quickly turned to nightmares featuring Benito Campinelli, the head of a dangerous mafia family. Father dearest would object to an Englishman eyeing his daughter.

Soon the horrors from the book he had read came to life, with him as the victim. When Benito’s “doctor” began flaying the skin off Steel’s genitals in what they called a second circumcision, he woke up screaming.

Shadows of the Past, by Carmen Stefanescu #RomanticIdea

Welcome Carmen Stefanescu!

She has a few ideas to share for a romantic summer:

Find a fireplace.

Let’s be honest, there’s nothing sexier than an evening spent by the fire, sipping wine. Don’t have a fireplace in your home to cozy up next to? Head to a hotel for the same effect.
The power outage date.
Pretend like the power went out, and spend the whole night by candlelight. Conversation? Candles? What could be more romantic than that.
Draw sketches of one another.
It doesn’t matter if neither of you are great at drawing, it’s the thought that counts. And the final product will make for one very special memento of the day spent together.

Excerpt:
Andrew pulled her to his chest. "Do you regret you've come with me?"
Passion smothered Genevieve's doubt and guilt. "Never," she answered, aware of her body's response to his touch, and she succumbed to his embrace.
The moonlight bathed his face in silver light. Andrew lowered her wimple, and his fingers threaded into her curls. She swayed, enveloped by the dizzy sensation of drowning in the tumultuous ocean of his gaze. The tenderness of his touch raised in her the wish they had lived in another time and been simple, ordinary people. She longed to feel the warmth of his lips on hers. How much she'd have liked to live the rest of her life beside him and bear his children. A dream not likely to ever come true for her. Why not let the feeling lurking in the pit of her stomach take over and consume her whole being?
Aware of the track of her thoughts, she shifted uneasily, a hot flush warmed her cheeks. Drawing in a deep breath in spite of herself, calming the gnawing unease in her mind and the thought of Sister Dominica guessing she was the dough of a sinner, Genevieve repeated, "Never."
With her eyes closed and their bodies touching she became, for the very first time, simply a woman. She melted in his embrace in spite of the invisible vicious threat breathing around them. Aware they might never be alone again, she fought hard to silence the voice of conscience berating her.
"Oh, God. Please forgive me," Andrew muttered under his breath when he bowed his head to kiss her. Their lips met in a passionate first kiss.
. . . . . . . . .

Far in the forest, the sprightly stream’s clear waters sang their ancient song down the moss-covered banks. Reaching an old, crooked oak tree, bearing the seal of recent lightning damage, the waters trembled, turned muddy and the pale, distorted face of a woman emerged. Her raven black hair floated around her head, the long black tresses writhing and coiling on the waves, like snakes trying to pry free and attack. Her eyes flew open and a hideous grin stretched her lips. She blinked several times and gurgled a hoarse threat to someone known only to her, “You imagine you thwarted my plans even from beyond the grave, but you’re wrong. You shall hear from me. You shall all hear from me! Soon.”
Little by little, the waters of the river became an ugly shade of green, covered the ghastly face, and continued down to the green pastures in the valley while an ominous silence, harbinger of the woman’s spiteful threat, settled over the rugged mountain and its mysterious forest.
