shivers down Sheri Fredrick’s spine faster than the words “Black Friday”.

In the city,
where department stores and mega crowds abound, people line up for hours – if not
days!- to be the first ones through the door.

Not for this laid-back
country girl. First off, we don’t have those kinds of stores in my dinky town on
the central coast of California where I live. Oh, the local mom and pop retails
try to capitalize on their version of Black Friday, but it isn’t the same.
Take your pick.
We’ve got the restaurant on your left…or the feed store on your right.
No, I don’t think
I’ll hit Black Friday this year, or any year. Maybe I’ll take up a good book
and read my day away.

What do YOU do on Black Friday?

NOW ON SALE FOR .99 CENTS
TODAY ONLY!
Man by day, Centaur by night, Rhycious is a remedy maker who needs his
own healing.
He's the royal physician, famous for his cures. War and
posttraumatic stress disorder has broken his spirit, preventing him from
finding true happiness. Then a direct order from the queen to investigate an
uprising forces him out of his secluded cabin at the edge of the forest.
Patience is an optimistic, good-natured Wood Nymph who works as a
mediator to ensure harmony within the Nymph sector.
Environmental pollution in the aquifer stream that feeds the
taproot tree of her heart is slowly killing her. Resigned to the fact she will
not live long, she sets out to discover the mysterious disappearance of her
sister. Experience has taught her to deny herself the love of a male, but the
gruff Centaur is different. He doesn't push his expectations on her, only his
healing nature.
When Rhycious loses his grip on reality, he believes his
inability to control his disorder will drive Patience away. Nevertheless,
desire flares, and Patience draws him close. Kidnapping and betrayal turn their
mythic joint venture into a deadly bout.
Will their love endure when survival hinges on trusting each
other?

I like to concentrate on eating leftovers. It's too hard to be in the crowds especially with little ones.
ReplyDelete0713iv@gmail.com
I don't care for Black Friday. Some of the footage I've seen of how insane people get scares me.
ReplyDeletebrenda_dyer212@hotmail.com
Sheri...is that your reading outfit? Hubby must be thrilled! I am working Friday, as we don't have a day off in the Great North. Perhaps I will celebrate with a new book tonight, or go back and revisit some fave passages from Remedy Maker! rleoauthor@gmail.com

The sad thing is I think your town has more choices than my village. angelacisco79(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI definitely stay at home on Black Friday. It's a madhouse. We were going to go last year to Wal-Mart at 10 pm. We drove in the lot and then right back out and home we went. The drive was a nice time spent with my sister-in-law but I couldn't believe the crowd that was in the store. Where was the fire marshal? Had to be over crowded.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I'm not a Black Friday shopper. I don't believe that shopping should ever be a full contact sport. I spend the day baking cookies with my kiddos instead.

I love getting up early and going to the stores for the Black Friday deals, but this year they started them at 8pm on Thanksgiving and I just didn't feel like fighting the crowds. So I waited until 11:30pm when the stores were almost empty and still got all the specials I wanted.
