Friday Flames Crashes into Love - with Daryl Devore

So excited to be here on Sheri Fredrick's Friday Flames this week.
I've brought along a sexy scene from the newly released box set called Crashing Into Love
Six spectacular authors (Brenda Dyer, Jenna Jaxon, Deb Julienne, Melissa Keir, Lisa Kumar, and D'Ann Lindun) and myself banded together to create 7 stories based on love and survival.
At first we tried to make all 7 stories center on one airplane crash, but that proved impossible – too many very creative minds. Once we settled on crashing our airplane wherever we wanted, then the fun began.
I chose a small deserted island in the Caribbean. It was winter up here in Canada when I wrote the story, so the lure of the heat of the tropics made my choice of islands a pleasure to write about.

Brace for Impact by Daryl Devoré.
What could be simpler than a routine plane trip from Toronto, Canada to Caracas, Venezuela for rookie flight attendant, Lori, and sexy R.C.M.P. officer, Guy Lapierre? But Fate had other intentions.

Excerpt
Guy pushed aside the shredded curtain used as a door and stepped inside. For the first time in hours, he wasn't being drenched by water. He gazed into her hungry eyes and knew he was about to be drowned in love.
He lowered her feet to the floor then leaned forward, slipping a wet nipple between his lips. She wrapped her arms around his head to pull him closer.
He released her bud, lifted his head, grabbed her face and pressed his mouth against hers. Their tongues met and writhed around each other's mouth. He lowered his hands, reached for her panties and peeled the wet fabric down her legs. He dropped them at her feet. Paix stepped out of them, hooked her panties with a foot and flung them across the tiny room. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she jumped and wrapped her legs around his waist. Her crotch pressed against his swollen cock.
She squirmed against him. "I'm naked. Why aren't you?"
"Good question. Hold on tight." He held her with one hand and fought the wet denim. The shorts refused to cooperate.
She tilted back her head and an earthy chuckle erupted from her throat. Dropping her feet to the floor, she ran tiny kisses down his chest. Gripping the waistband of his shorts, she slid them over his hips, freeing his swollen cock. It bobbed outward. He groaned when she slid her fingertips along his thick shaft. With a sharp tug, she dropped his shorts to his ankles and sprang back up around his waist. Her hot sex glided across the tip of his cock.
Lightning flashed illuminating the cabin. Rain splashed through the glass-less windows.
Guy turned, shoved a small table out of the way and pressed her up against the wall. Bracing her there, he slid one hand between their hips and fondled her sex. She was hot and wet. "You are so beautiful. All I could think of was you. I didn't want to die because I needed to get back to you. To discover this." He slipped two fingers inside her.
She closed her eyes as a moan rumbled in her throat.

Favorite Heroines Giveaway Hop!

One of my favorite types of heroines are the ones who decide to take charge of their lives.

They’re not the ones who lay down and take it. If life throws them lemons, then they throw the lemons right back and fly the finger in the face of fate!

I’m coming out with a new contemporary action-adventure romance very soon titled:

Monica Beggs

This heroine isn’t your sweet, simpering librarian.

She isn’t a doctor, lawyer, billionaire, or sheriff either.

She’s a porn star. Tarnished character right out of the gate.

Here’s a snippet to wet youruhwhistle:

“How much time do we have?”

Finn smiled, his boyish charm shining through. “Twenty minutes, why?”

Moni stepped back and pretended to size up the sexy man. She couldn’t wait to get his shirt off and take a peek below the belt. “I bet all we’ll need is ten.”

His mouth dropped and he looked aghast. “Maybe for you. But honey, I have afterburners you know nothing about.”

Sticklers for being on time, the military were precise. Right down to the second. If twenty minutes remained on the clock, more like nineteen now, Moni wanted every moment to count.

“There’s something I’ve wondered since you buckled my seatbelt.” His eyes tracked her tongue as she moistened her lips.

Finn rose from the bed to stand in front of her, between her legs. “Ask me.”

The pole raising a tent in his jeans hovered so near her face. Need thrummed, tension coiled, building a delicious density in her core. It took all the willpower she possessed to not tilt forward and stroke him with the tip of her nose.

No, not yet…

She waited. Remaining quiet, until his hands flexed into fisted balls not once, but twice.

Now.

“Are you sweet—” Moni leaned, keeping her hands gripped to the bed, and inhaled his musky virile scent as she drew the side of her nose along his hard length. “Or spicy?”

My Sexy Saturday!

Sexy can be anything, such as romantic moments like walks on the beach, a home cooked meal or even in another galaxy. It could be two lovers here on Earth dreaming about the day where they go on a magical vacation to another planet. Or staying right here at one of those wonderful places we can find in our own world.

Readers want to see those characters, the ones who can’t get enough of each other as well as ones who are fighting their way back to being part of the world once again. These are the types of characters they can’t forget, the one they want to take home and keep forever. Readers love the kisses, the looks or touch of each and every one of our characters.

Sexy has nothing to do with looks or status or even wealth. It doesn’t demand perfection and it isn’t pretentious, but it does make us want to read those books.

We know that everyone has their own idea of sexy and we all love sexy!

There wasn’t another explanation the counter attendant would have understood without drawing attention to himself and still have her play the oblivious part. He strode back to the bar, dodging kids and outstretched legs. A likelihood of the tangos holding business-class seats was zero to zilch. Removing Monica from the masses would, hopefully, keep her out of their reach during the boat ride to the mainland.
Back at the table, he set his laptop on the empty seat and slid into his own. He casually glanced in the actress’s direction. Though she sat straight backed with nice posture, her brows were scrunched and she appeared captivated by whatever caught her attention on the iPad.

My Sexy Saturday

It's another GREAT Saturday! Time to share seven more lines from my upcoming contemporary romance:

MONICA BEGGS

*****

She suspected it was a macho thing setting the spark of fear in the man's eyes.

"This isn't over," Mariano said softly. "We have no choice but to deliver, our cliente is adamant. Failure or substitution are not acceptable."

Deliver? What the hell was he talking about? Why would anyone want to kidnap and deliver her?

My Sexy Saturday Seven

I've been tagged!

Kate Baum tagged me on Facebook to play 7x7. Seven lines from page seven of the current book I'm writing.

I'll set the scene:

Successful businessman and hobby surfer Finn Daniels (our hero) is waiting to catch the ferry back to the mainland. His background consists of time spent in the military and he's trained to see things most civilians miss -- like the group of huddled men he finds suspicious.

Just who are they after?

Here's seven unedited lines from my Contemporary Action-Adventure Romance:

*****

Monica Beggs

Finn turned his focus to the four dubious predators. The poor saps had no clue what to do with themselves and he found it rather humorous.

After watching them bumble in their seats for an additional twenty minutes, he surmised they were outside their original mission plan. He’d bet his original Kelly Slater surfboard the rats never predicted being delayed in the ferry terminal. As it was, they'd been forced to act upon an unplanned scenario, one in which they hadn’t trained, and their anxiety levels were shooting up.

In his old unit they used to call men like that a bag of dicks. For this unprepared group, they had a problematic situation on their hands. Finn surmised the original plan was to board the woman’s ferry at last call, then make their move only after she stood at the gangway to disembark.

At least, that’s the way he’d have done it.

*****

Okay, so that was nine lines. *Grins*

If you have a 7x7 you'd like to share, and I hope you do!, please use the comment section below and post away!

Another Humorous Romance by Liza O'Connor

Strange non-war, never happened, PTSD event.

As part of my ‘humans can’t remember worth crap’ blogs, I would like to share how I managed to give a friend a PTSD event without actually doing anything but talk.
In fact, I had no idea I’d done great harm until many years later when Facebook came to be and we all reunited electronically. She PM’d about the time we kidnapped a cute guy named Steve, tossed him into my roomie’s car and drove around for hours before releasing him.
I did recall the cute guy named Steve and I’m certain my roomie had a car, which I often drove in, but I had NO recollection of kidnapping cute Steve against his will. However, my friend did and the guilt of her memories had continued to grow over the years until it had become a major traumatic event in her life. (While she didn’t say so in her comment, for such ‘guilt’ to grow, I’m thinking in her memories we did something more than drive him around Oklahoma for hours. I’ve no idea what we did, because I’ve no memory of the event.)
Wishing to resolve the matter, I contacted my former roomie and asked her if she remembered us ever kidnapping Steve. Nope. Then I contacted Steve. Surely he would remember? His reply: ‘Nope, but sounds like fun.’
Clearly Steve was thinking we’d be doing something more than driving around town, as well, because having my roomie drive us about for hours didn’t sound fun at all to me. She was a terrible driver back then and her constant braking and then speeding up would make me car sick….or so I remember now.
However, since neither the alleged victim nor me or my roomie remembers the event at all, I let my friend know it didn’t happen so she could stop feeling guilty.
Want to guess how that ended?
She PM’s me back, very angry and assures me it did happen and it altered her life, and goes on about the pain it has caused her. Then she defriends me.
Until I discovered how easily memories could be created, I had no idea what had just happened. Upon giving the matter more thought, this is what I think happened, but I could be making it up. Who the hell knows!
I faintly recall one night the three of us were in our dorm room, and I said “wouldn’t it be fun if we kidnapped Steve…” and then me and my roomie, both being of theatrical natures, created an entire event of fun things to do with cute Steve.
I think my friend got so caught up in our imagination, that it settled in her brain and later when she recalled it, the part of it being a ‘funny idea’ wasn’t retained, but the kidnapping was. And thus began the foundation of her PTSD event. And while my brain said, ‘You’re just making shit up, I’m not recording any of this’, her brain said ‘let’s record this. It’s a fascinating event.’
My friend now lives in a remote place, raising llamas, selling llama sweaters via the internet. I hope, trauma memory aside, she loves her life, for I recall her being a lovely person and I feel bad about planting the seed that became her future trauma.

A Long Road to Love Series
By Liza O’Connor

BLURB

THE HARDEST LOVE IS TO LOVE YOURSELF

Sam Lancaster is a lost man. Since returning from the war in Iraq, his life has been spiraling out of control. Attempting to escape his troubles, first he moves to a small town of Denton, Iowa, where he becomes the sheriff and beats up the local trouble. When that ceases to work, he seeks peace at a Vermont hunting lodge, where he gets arrested for shooting fish rather than throwing them a line. After spending five months in a work camp to pay for his many crimes, he gets out only to discover Carrie is in dangeragain. Convinced he’s the only one who can keep the little Pint Size safe, he rushes back to NYC.

During his absence, Mars has turned the Lancaster estate into a sanctuary for injured vets. Sam agrees to take a test that proves he has Swiss cheese memories that are inaccurate and dangerous. Even knowing this, his PTSD continues to worsen. While he’s deemed to be a poor candidate for a new method of self-correction, his many friends will try anything to save him.

When danger shows up at the Sanctuary, Mars gives him a mission to evaluate the potential threat from certain staff members. On top of his list is Sam’s new girlfriend. Figures!

EXCERPT

Damn, but Sam, liked this woman. Which was really strange. She was so not his type. “What’s your name?”

“Aggie.”

“What type of name is that?” Aggie sounded like a mascot for a football team.

“Short for Agnes.”

“Your parents should be shot.”

“Didn’t have any. You should go after the nuns instead.”

“Nuns named you?”

“Yeah, they named and raised me. I was evidently too cheerful so they decided to ruin my life with a god-awful name.”

Laughing at her response, he sat on the bed to put on his shoes. “I see they failed. Good for you.”

To his surprise, she sat on the bed beside him. “Could you hurry up? Carlos is really excited for you to see him.”

“Excited?” The last time he’d visited him at the Vet’s hospital, Carlos had begged him for a gun so he could end his life.

“Super excited. He’s been up since six, waiting for you to arrive.”

Sam glanced at his watch: 12:05.

“Jeez, I had no idea how late it was.” He jumped up. “Sorry for yelling at you for waking me up. I thought it was early morning.

Walking to his window, Aggie petted his curtains. “That’s because your room has thick curtains capable of blocking the sunlight. Oddly, all the staff members have sheer curtains so the sun can wake us up very early, even on our days off.” Then she headed out the door.

“Hold up,” he said as he finished tying his tennis shoes. She was already twenty feet down the hall, requiring him to jog to catch up with her long legged stride. Once beside her, he asked, “I gather you’re not happy working here?”

“What would make you think that?” she asked and turned down another hallway which had not existed when Sam used to live here.

“I love my job, this place, and the people. I’d just appreciate heavier curtains on my days off.”

“Have you mentioned it to Mars?” Sam stared about, recognizing nothing. How could Mars change so much in so little time?

“The CEO? No oddly my curtain’s density didn’t seem something to bring up to the busiest man alive. I did mention it to my boss, but he didn’t see any reason to escalate the matter. Instead, he suggested I focus on the positives and not go out of my way to find a negative.”
