Starfox Howl - He's Fresh and Unique!

I don’t recall exactly when, but a newcomer had joined the online romance writer’s critique group I belong to. And he was a man! Oh the titters that followed.

That is, until we engaged him in conversation. Not only did this male romance writer fit nicely into our all-female group, we grew to have a deep respect for our newest member.

I’m pleased to spotlight…

STARFOX HOWL

Angel’s Wings

The year is 2068 and the MORFS outbreak is worldwide. Science has found no cure, just better ways of keeping alive those sickened until the symptoms pass.

Angel Sanderson was stricken by the once deadly syndrome the first time when she turned ten years old. After five years living trapped in the body and mind of an eight-year-old with butterfly wings, she is one of the rarest victims, someone in whom the syndrome is triggered a second time. The young woman who emerges is truly an angel, tall, lovely and a flyer with wings who can soar to the heavens.

On the first day at a school just for MORFS survivors, she meets a boy with a troubled past. Her attraction to him is real, but can their young love survive the trials of life and family without crashing and burning?

Jason To Jessica

Jason Ryerson wakes from sleep in a different room and a different body. In the hour after waking up, he learns that he has been a victim twice over, first of a car accident that caused massive injuries to his old body. Secondly, and more devastatingly a victim of the MORFS plague.

Jason, now Jessica, learns what it means to be on the other side of the bed. Outwardly a beautiful woman, she is forced to come to terms with how the world views women. As ties to her past are confronted, dissolved or strengthened, Jessica turns her attention to her future. A man who knew her as both Jason and now Jessica becomes more than just a friend. With no secrets between them, will he help her find her way into the world of being a woman?

Deployment – Mankiller Stories, Book 1

Lisa Mankiller is spending her pre-deployment leave at the ranch of neighbors when she meets Todd Lawson, a city boy, friend, and lover, of Jake Winthrop, someone she’d not seen since departing for Navy Corpsman school years before.

Witnessing how abusive Jake has become, Lisa works to rescue Todd, unaware that her heart has other plans.

The Navy is sending her to sea for a year. Will someone be waiting for her when she returns?

Starfox Howl is a former Marine brat who spent time seeing the world as a U.S. Navy sailor. Between stints of peaceful civilian jobs working on computers, he spent five years in Afghanistan, working on computers, riding in helicopters and getting his first book written.  He now makes his home in Georgia, outside of Atlanta, where he takes care of his family by writing, andworking on computers.

I welcome your comments about this original, fresh new author!

I love a good twist!

Hello everyone!

I'm a sucker for a twisted fairytale. Good thing Leigh Savage has new releases!

Goldie's Three Bears:

Samantha Goldi leaves her worthless, cheating boyfriend and finds herself lost in the woods. Taking the only refuge she can fine, her safe haven is invaded by three hot, hunky brothers demanding to know who has been sleeping in their bed...and asking to join her.

Blurb:

A wicked thought crossed her mind. What would they do, she wondered, if she just continued? Would they keep watching, or would they join her? After all, she’d been wishing her fantasy would come true, of having a very sexy guy there to satisfy her every need. Now there were three very hunky sexy guys standing before her and they all looked, from the bulges in their pants, more than ready to satisfy her.

Twisted Destinies:

Writing everyone else’s destiny, but never living her own, Moerae decides to take matters into her own hands. Alexander, a demigod living obliviously on Earth, has always had women falling at his feet but he’s never loved any of them. He’s also the perfect instrument for Moerae’s rebellion. What she intended to be no more than a little fun, soon turns into much more for both of them. Could it be they were destined for one another?

Blurb:

Alexander stepped in close to her and pushed his hands into the thick mass of her golden hair. His fingers bunched in it at the base of her neck, pulling her head back, exposing the creamy white skin of her throat and thrusting her breasts up at the same time. He lowered his lips down to the sensitive skin of her throat and took a taste of her—the flavor of her seemed to ignite a spark in his mind and body.

Bio:
Leigh Savage lives in Saint Louis, MO with her husband and two children. Currently attending college working towards a nursing degree and most recently became a panel member on a blog talk radio show geared towards helping writers called Write Pack Radio.

"I grew up loving to escape in the world of stories that my Father would write just for me. So, it wasn't any wonder that as I got older, I too picked up the pen and started writing."

The Fae Lord's Lady - by Lisa Kumar

The Fae Lord’s Lady

Natalie Danvers lives a picture-perfect life. She has a great boyfriend, a good job she loves, and friends aplenty. But to her, she feels as if she's merely existing. Something indefinable is missing, which colors every aspect of her life.

When she tumbles head first through a dimensional tear--straight onto a fae lord's lap--her ordinary life is shaken to the core. Handsome and mysterious, Lorh frustrates her even as he enthralls her. He insists she is stuck in the land of TirAnn for three weeks and only she can discover the reasons behind her appearance there.

Lorh and his siblings have been awaiting Natalie's arrival for centuries. Now she's in his arms, and his family's dearest desire is within reach. But as forgotten memories resurface and collide with reason, will Natalie find what she's been missing? Or will old enemies destroy ay chance of her being the fae lord's lady?

Excerpt

"Where to start?" He steepled his fingers and gazed at her contemplatively. "Your people call us the fae or the Sidhe. We are much like our human kin but also much different."

"How much different?" She hated the quavering in her voice.

"We live for a very long time."

Both dreading and wanting to know the answer, she asked, "How much longer?"

"Unless it’s by our own hand, we cannot choose the time of our deaths any more than humans can, but our years far outlast those of your kindby millennia."

Her mind hit a mental barricade. "You’re joking, right?"

"No."

"But —"

"Just accept my people live much longer than yours."

She scowled. "But how’s that possible?"

"Our inherent magic, which allows us to do spells and charms, affects our physiology."

She stared blankly at the book-lined wall, gathering her thoughts. So fae could do spells and other such things, and it increased their longevity? Though it shouldn’t be surprising — after all, she was in a mythical land of fairy-tale creatures — his new information blew a gasket in her mind, and she didn’t know what to do with it, except… "Given the difference in our lifespans, I don’t possibly see how I could stay here, even if I wanted to."

"We can remedy that issue." He hesitated, discomfort flashing across his face. "If we join through marriage, I can complete a ceremony that will enable you to share my lifespan."

Stunned disbelief poured over her, and before she could halt them, words exploded from her. "What! Are you crazy? Marriage! Marriage?"

Inside, every alarm blared. Marriage? Whoa! Why would he want to marry her? Sure, he desired to have her here for some cockamamie reason that she couldn’t even begin to understand, but marriage?

"Natalie," he said in a soothing voice, holding out a hand. "I know this sounds quite shocking, but once you get —"

Lurching out of the chair, she eyed him like the insane man he was. "No, don’t even finish that sentence." Whirling around, she sprinted toward the exit, but before she could get in more than a few steps, he stood before her.

She shuddered. Howhow did he get around his desk so fast?

Lorh placed his hands on her arms, his grip strong but not bruising. "I’m sorry, but I can’t let you run."

His touch seared through the thin sleeves of her gown and seemed to brand her down to the bone. Panic seized her. This place, this male, they were driving her mad.

Natalie yanked against his hold, wanting — no, needing — to be free. This was all too much. Everything pulled at her — her fright, her strange attraction to Lorh, his mysteriousness, and his latest declaration. She feared she’d explode into a thousand tiny pieces from it.

Words bubbled out, and she didn’t even try to hide the desperation in them. "Please, let me go. Let me go home. If this is what you brought me here for, it’s not going to work."

Remorse flashed in his eyes before a look of resolve replaced it. "I can’t allow you to go. If you listen to me, I’m sure we can come to an accord."

"I’m not going to listen to any more crazy talk. You won’t get me to agree toto that."

My Sexy #Shifter, #Shapeshifter Saturday

Welcome to the 125th week of My Sexy Saturday!

This week's theme: My Sexy Shifter

Yes, I write shape-shifting stories. What sets mine apart from others is the nature (or I should say species) of my characters.

Centaurs

You're probably thinking, "What the hell? Centaurs are already half-man, half horse. What could they possibly shift into?"

From REMEDY MAKER, book 1 of The Centaurs:

Encompassed by his arms, his chin resting on top of her head, he rocked her slowly. Together, they watched the sun drift lower through the trees until only a small portion blazed above the mountains.

Rhy kissed her forehead, cheek, and lips before setting her from him. He moved to sit apart a few feet and shed his boots and pants, folding them away in his backpack.

Patience held her breath as his transformation began. Spellbound, she watched his back lengthen and grow the additional hind legs. When his black tail sprouted, he twirled it like a spiral ribbon and winked at her.

“What does it feel like?” Unable to pull her gaze away, she stared, transfixed.

“Like a pressure, I guess. Then my lower body gets heavy. But mainly—” He scratched his sides where the hide flashed a gold buckskin. “The whole thing just itches.”

“I’ve never seen anything as magnifiscrumptious as you tweaking into your true self.”

“You look at something much better every day, agape mou. If you’d see yourself, the way I see you.”

This week’s theme: Our Sexy New Year

Welcome to the 123rd week of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Our Sexy New Year

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each and every one of you there as we’re starting things this month with fun and prizes along the way.

This year at the Fredrick's ranch an unusual event took place: We were ALL awake at midnight!

I know that doesn't seem like a big deal for most, but our work day can start outside at 5AM - rain or shine. My two teen boys tuned into the big ball that dropped in New York as the television announcer counted down on West Coast time.

Shortly after I banged on a metal pot with a wooden spoon outside, screaming  "Happy New Year" to the world, the Hubs and I settled into our hot tub under the stars. Yes, the air was cold, but all the more reason the snuggle closer to the man who makes my life unbelievably wonderful.

What did you do for New Year’s this year? Was it sleeping off that major party you went to? Or how about waking up in someone’s bed?

Leave your answer in a comment and I'll pick someone to win a $5 Amazon gift card!!

I leave you with a spicy excerpt from my contemporary romantic suspense MONICA BEGGS.

“Ask me.” His voice warmed her like a fine aged whiskey.
The pole raising a tent in his jeans hovered near her face. Need thrummed through her veins with every beat of her heart. Tension coiled, building a delicious density in her core. It took all the sexual training she possessed to not reach out and run the tips of her fingers over his impressive bulge.
     No, not yet…
She waited, bit her lip and drew the moment out. Choosing to remain quiet until she saw his hands flex into fists not once, but twice.
     Now.
“Are you sweet—” Moni leaned forward, keeping her fingers gripped tightly to the bed. She inhaled his musky, virile scent as she drew the side of her nose along his hard length. “—or spicy?”

Blurb

When Lady Alyse de Courcy is betrothed to Sir Geoffrey Longford, she has no choice but to make the best of a bad bargain. The hulking knight is far from her ideal man, and although he does possess some wit and charm, he is no match for the sinfully sensual man she secretly admires, Thomas, Earl of Braeton, her betrothed’s best friend.

From the first, Sir Geoffrey finds himself smitten by Lady Alyse, and, despite her infatuation with his friend, vows to win her love. When Geoffrey puts his mind to wooing Alyse, he is delighted to find her succumbing to his seduction. But when cruel circumstances separate them, Geoffrey must watch helplessly as Thomas steps in to protect Alyse—and falls in love with her himself.

As the three courtiers accompany Princess Joanna to her wedding in Spain, they run headlong into the Black Plague. With her world plunged into chaos, Alyse struggles with her feelings for both the men she loves. But which love will survive?

EXCERPT
Geoffrey hurried on with a suggestion. “’Twould be the work of a few moments for me to teach it you, my lady.”
It would have to serve. She shot a look over her shoulder at her husband, who nodded and laughed with the princess though his eyes were trained on her. Best get on with it then. The sooner ’twas done, the better.
“Your skill at dancing is such that you would certainly learn the steps with but slight instruction from me.” Geoffrey leaned so close his voice, against her ear made her jump and recall herself. She stepped back and looked at him.
His practiced courtier’s smile flickered at her, and she caught something deeper shining in his eyes that she fought not to see. Her heart stuttered a beat. Her body flushed with the anticipation of dancing with him again even as misgivings swirled in her mind. No good would come of this dance, but Thomas watched closely to see that she acted cordially to Geoffrey. Would that it was an act.
With a sense of heavy foreboding, she extended her hand to him. “Very well, Sir Geoffrey. What must I do first?”
He placed her hand atop his arm and led her to their place in the circle of dancers then grasped her hand to pull her around to face him.
The moment his hand touched her skin, a streak of fire shot through her. Her mouth went dry, and her gaze flew to his face. Surely he felt that as well?
He stared back, his eyes mirroring all too clearly the blaze that coursed up her arm.
     Damn Geoffrey Longford.
In a daze, she looked around at the other dancers, expecting them to stare accusingly at her. As if they could see this sinful feeling that tore at her soul. At a loss for how to act, she raised her gaze to beseech Geoffrey. “What do we do now?”
’Twas an apt question for, God forgive her, at the touch of Geoffrey’s hand, all thought of her husband had fled. She was back on the deck of the Phillipa, facing him once more. Loving him once more.
Geoffrey cleared his throat, his face flushed, and said simply, “Follow me.”
Then they were twirling around the circle, hands clasped, arms touching intimately, He seemed to brand her wherever he touched. The figure reversed, and her other side was scorched as if a red-hot blade seared her. Her gaze locked onto Geoffrey’s, and the music, the dancers, the Great Hall and all its inhabitants melted away until all that was left was the whisper of his breath in her ear and the heat of his body pressed close against her.
He leaned in closer to whisper, “I must lift you now.”
Before she could grasp that staggering news, his arm went around her waist and he lifted her, twirling them around full circle. She panted, blood pounding in her temples, roaring in her ears.
They continued to dance, but she moved as though she were a doll made of rags, her legs barely able to stand. Her world narrowed to the single source of light and life that was the man who held her in his arms again. The man whose love she could no longer deny. Despite the agony of the betrayal, in the core of her being she knew neither the vows she had spoken to Thomas nor the passion they had enjoyed in his bed would ever match the intensity of love and belonging she shared with Geoffrey. As soon compare a candle’s flame to the sun.
